New VM sizes in Azure has been introduced several time over the last 6 – 8 months.

These VM series, D_v3, F_v2 and E_v3 has a general lower cost than the older series.


I have been doing several “Right sizing” jobs lately and all with a whooping cost saving for our customers.


I have managed to save more than 20% on VM expense by moving VM’s to the new series. In some cases I have used the B-Series VM’s where cpu load has been low and only peeking rarely.


I have created a small powershell script that you can use to get a quick overview of the VM’s in your subscription. It also tells you the current size and the CPU average over the last 7 days.
